How to make room for creativity in Hong Kong's examination-focused, product-oriented educational system?
'My Story Creation Primary School Program' is a 2x2 hours creative writing and illustration workshop targeting all primary aged students from schools and community centers throughout Hong Kong. In the workshops, participants develop skills to write and illustrate their own creative stories. After the workshops, students can submit their work to the Writing for a Cause Competition with a chance to be published in the Kids4kids Treasuries. Participants will receive a 'My Story Kit' including a writing guide to instruct students in creating their very own story, a Kids4Kids children's book and a writing book.
The workshops will cover the following topics: characters, setting, theme, problem and solution, illustration techniques and storyboard development.
Kids4Kids wants to make computer science education more accessible for children in Hong Kong. Together with our partners First Code Academy and Google, Kids4Kids is starting the launch of a Digital Literacy Program for children from low-income families to bridge the gaps in tech education and representation. Using the CS First Curriculum, Kids4Kids will reach out to low-resourced schools and community centres to teach coding.
