Powered By Service
Powered by Service (PBS) is a bilingual capacity building workshop designed for secondary schools with limited resources. Through a high-energy and interactive learning experience, students discover their ability to impact the community by identifying personal sparks and building up leadership skills.
The curriculum is developed in partnership with Usher's New Look, a U.S. based organisation that develops global youth leaders by providing access and awareness. In an approximately 4-6 hours of training, the workshop covers the topics of leadership, empathy and civic engagement. These important topics are often not included in the education curriculum of Hong Kong.
Students who have participated PBS are invited to join the annual Powered by Youth Forum (PBY) for free to further develop their skills and form project collaborations. Click here to find out more about PBY. Students may also submit their community action project ideas to Act!on for a Cause directly for a chance to win seed funding and support from a Kids4Kids mentor to implement their projects.
Powered By Service workshop aims to help participants:
- Build ability to lead, work in teams, and communicate effectively
- Develop analytical skill and motivation to initiate actions
- Nurture imagination to lead their own community action ideas
